Jointly hosted by people’s Government of Guizhou Province, the Information Office of the State Council, the National Tourism Administration, the China News Agency and UNESCO, the Fifth Session of Photo China Original International Photographic Exhibition will be held in April and late- September 2012 in Bijie City and Guiyang (the capital of Guizhou Province).
Now entering its fifth year and to international acclaim the Photo China Original International Photographic Exhibition has grown from strength to strength. images from photographers in China and the rest of the World are now being accepted.
CATEGORIES, AWARDS, PRIZES AND RULES
Invitations are invited from photographers and image makers from around the planet depicting the life and culture around the world, it is a real opportunity to showcase on a global stage the life, culture and heritage from places you live, work, play, visit and love.
There are 16 prizes as follows in each category except for category F where there are 6 awards. There are a total of 13 categories.
One First place award including a Certificate of Honor and a prize fund of RMB 10,000 Yuan.
Two Second place awards Prizes including a Certificate of Honor and a prize fund of RMB 5,000 Yuan.
Three Third place awards including a Certificate of Honor and a prize fund of RMB 3,000 Yuan.
Ten Merit place awards including a Certificate of Honor and a prize fund of RMB 500 Yuan.
Works will be selected for the exhibition and selected photographers will be notified and presented with a certificate of acknowledgement.
CATEGORIES
A. Ethnic Culture categories (6) including, Ethnic figures, Ethnic festivals, Local dwellings, Ethnic sports, Ethnic customs, and Ethnic skills.
B. Natural landscapes, Natural heritage, Nature reserves, Ecological environments and Geological parks.
C. Wild Animals.
D. Original Artistic Creation - an open category intended too allow manipulation, flare and post production and creative flare manipulation. Ethnic themes are encouraged.
E. Social Life - reflecting daily life and the social scene from around the world.
F. Photo-essay/documentary series - needs to be original, clear passionate theme, moving and real. In addition, the date, venue, a caption must accompany each image with a complete summary of the story. Must contain a minimum of 10 photographs.
G. Awards for Student series - the photography should explore all aspects of student life and focus on the relationships of students exploring studying, life in general, affection and friendships.

RULES AND COMPETITION INFORMATION
■ Domestic and overseas photographers, professional cameramen and amateur photographers are invited to take part in the 5th Photo China Original International Photographic Exhibition. However, awarded works from the former three sessions and other winning photography competitions worldwide are not accepted.
■ Digital black and white or color images are all acceptable. The photographs must meet the requirements and rules of the competition. We encourage photographs take in Guizhou province.
■ All photographs should be labeled correctly with their specific category. Where photographs are not labeled correctly, the organizing committee will assign at their discretion a category. Duplicate photographs cannot be entered i.e. one photograph per category.
■ In the following categories, Ethnic Culture, Natural Landscapes, Wild Animals, Social Life, Ethnic Skills and the Image Story series, all photographs have to be original and not manipulated or over treated, i.e. HDR. Photographs can only be adjusted for levels, contrast and color balance, however in the Artistic Original section there are no restrictions.
■ Entries must be submitted in electronic document preferably in JPG format, set to maximum and more than 8MB in size once compressed. Importantly the Authors name, mailing address, entry title, number and caption must be filled in on the entry form and inserted in the files meta data if possible correctly (Entry forms can be downloaded below). Contestants can send the entry form to the exhibition organizing committee’s email address or QQ (Instant Message www.imqq.com). Alternatively you can deliver using the following methods, hand delivery to the exhibition organizing committee using one of the following, removable hard-disk drive or CD-ROM.
■ All institutes at home and abroad engaging in photography are encouraged to organize their own theme display to participate in this exhibition.
■ The sponsor is entitled to use the selected photography in exhibitions, picture books, newspapers, magazines, networks TV and other non-commercial promotions without payment. The author is responsible for the copyright and portrait disclaimers if relevant and any other legal right, the organizers are not liable or responsible for content and copyright issues.
■ Contestants must contribute their own work and use real names. The use of false names, aliases and using work not belonging to the named individual is prohibited and should infringements be discovered the work will be instantly disqualified and the infringement will be exposed in relevant media.
■ For photographs selected for the exhibition a special certificate will be issued.
■ By entering the competition it is assumed that you agree to the terms and rules of the competition.
■ All decisions made by the exhibition organizing committee are final.
